Dave Watts, NHS Project Manager and ex-serviceman, aims to walk the West Highland Way, a 96-mile (151km) hiking route in the Scottish Highlands. Stretching from Glasgow to Fort William, Dave is determined to complete the trek and finish on the summit of Ben Nevis, to raise awareness for homeless veterans and mental health.
“This is no easy challenge but I am determined to help my fellow veterans,” he says. “This is why I have chosen to support the charity Helping Homeless Veterans UK, who carry out outstanding work in the veteran’s community.”
51-year-old Dave has worked in close partnership with the Trust as a project manager, carrying out refurbishments and rebuilds with CNWL for the last 20 years, as well as multiple NHS sites. He is also an Armed Forces Veteran, serving in the Queen’s Regiment in Northern Island and Cyprus, and a member of The Mortar Platoon.
Dave has created a Just Giving page, if you would like to support visit: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/WestHighlandWay
All proceeds will go towards the charity, which is run by volunteers and dedicated to helping the country’s homeless veterans.
