All this week, we’ve been holding online events to shine a light on challenges often faced in silence by neurodivergent individuals and open up conversations that lead to real understanding and support. We also are using this week to move beyond acceptance to celebrating the strengths and talents brought by neurodivergent individuals.
Oscar Patton-Lyons, Advanced Lived Experience Practitioner, talks through four pieces of literature that speaks to neurodiverse indivduals, by neurodiverse individuals. There is a brief overview and discussion on each.
The four books are available online and in book stores, and are listed below:
- How Not to Fit In: An Unapologetic Guide to Navigating Autism and ADHD by Jess Joy and Charlotte Mia
- Queerly Autistic: The Ultimate Guide For LGBTQIA+ Teens On The Spectrum by Erin Ekins
- The Pocket Guide to Neurodiversity by Daniel Aherne
- The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) Skills by Sonny Jane Wise
