Tuesday 12 May is International Nurses’ Day, and this year the day holds extra significance as WHO has designated 2020 as 'International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife', in honour of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.
Our Chief Nurse Maria O'Brien has left a message of gratitude for our nurses, who have been the backbone of our response to Covid-19, and has encouraged people to celebrate everything that is fantastic about nursing. Watch the full video below.
CNWL cannot celebrate the day formally, however we have sent a thank you card to each and every one of our nurses and our wider nursing family which includes our healthcare assistants. Find out more on this page.
We will also be hosting a special Nurses' Day edition of One Community Radio on 12 May at 10.30am.
