A number of staff at CNWL’s National Problem Gambling Clinic have contributed to a new book: Breaking Free: How to Stop Gambling
Launched at CNWL headquarters yesterday evening; it’s a self-help workbook, packed full of practical exercises, worksheets and questionnaires, designed to help those struggling with gambling assess the extent of their gambling problem, and develop strategies to combat it. The guide is designed for anyone impacted by gambling including family members, carers and clinicians.
The materials use a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approach to guide you through practical steps and techniques that can help people take back control.
Prof Henrietta Bowden-Jones OBE, CNWL's National Problem Gambling Clinic Director and Dr Venetia Leonidaki, Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the clinic, co-authored the book and hosted a launch event for CNWL staff. Staff in the Trust are able to purchase the book with a 20 per cent discount code (see Trustnet for details by searching 'breaking free')
Dr Leonidaki, (photographed left) said "This book draws on our experience in the clinic. All of the materials have been developed by leading experts in the field and are evidence-based interventions, designed to help you to break free from your gambling problem."
