In April, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust’s (CNWL) Carers Network encouraged colleagues to get moving with their Race Around the World Trust-wide challenge.

The aim was to travel as far from London as possible. Colleagues recorded their movement each week with ten minutes of exercise equalling 1 kilometre. Any form of movement counted, from running and walking to dancing, tai chi or chair yoga - ensuring the challenge was inclusive for everyone.

Although the competition spearheaded the challenge, the network wanted to emphasise the overall goal wasn’t about winning or hitting targets. It was about celebrating individual progress, because every extra step is worth celebrating.

15 Teams, made up of CNWL clinical and corporate colleagues completed the April challenge, collectively travelling over 30,000 kilometres through France, Greece, Norway and Russia. The winning team, Ealing MSK IFC, travelled a whopping 3838.64km throughout the challenge - that’s London to Moscow!

One CNWL colleague said:

“The most beautiful thing of it all is to witness how, through our connections, we are inspiring each other to stay physically healthy and active, motivating and celebrating each other”
