Welcome to Milton Keynes CAMHS

Who are we

CNWL Milton Keynes CAMHS (Central North West London; Milton Keynes, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) provides mental and emotional health specialist services for children and young people up to 18 years old their families and carers.

We are a team of specialist clinicians, therapists and nurses supporting children, young people and their families and carers. We offer support including in-person, individual, on-line and group therapy, talking therapy, art therapy, family therapy, treatments, and urgent care.

We provide help to those who are experiencing difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences, emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties in family life, school or the wider world. These include bullying, eating difficulties, family issues, anger, sadness, worry, finding it hard to concentrate or sit still, trouble with friends, unusual thoughts and more.

How to make a referral

Young people, families and carers

You can call Milton Keynes CAMHS for advice on how to get help and support. 01908 724228 for all new referrals. Existing patients should call 01908 724544.

Families, carers and young people can speak to a GP who can do a referral on your behalf.

GPs and primary care staff

All CAMHS referrals from GPs must be submitted via e-Referrals on SystmOne.

Professionals

Healthcare professionals (school staff, social care etc.) can make a referral via an online referral form.

ADHD Referral information:

If you are a professional making a referral for an ADHD assessment, please ensure that both the Parent / Carer and Child Screening Pack and the School Screening Pack are fully completed and submitted alongside the referral.

These documents are essential for the referral to be accepted. Referrals that do not include both completed packs will be declined and returned to the referrer. You can download the required packs below:

If you have previously been prescribed medication by a CAMHS clinician from Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL), you can use this form to request a repeat prescription.

To navigate to the form, please click on the link above, select self-referral, scroll down to admin and click Repeat Prescriptions Request (Core CAMHs).

This form is only for patients who have already received a prescription from a CNWL CAMHS clinician.
If you have not received medication from CNWL before, please contact your care team or GP for guidance.

Our community projects and events

Here at Milton Keynes CAMHS we involve our young people and families wherever possible.

Digital project - Our videos and characters have been created by CAMHS young people for young people.
Young people volunteered to help with writing the script, voice over and acting in the films. They also helped improve our website. Their involvement means we can improve the CAMHS journey for everyone.

The mandala was created by a service user during her recovery in the service, this had a really positive impact on her recovery and gave her the opportunity to give back to the service. The initial plan was to create a colour by numbers and allow all visitors to the service, parents, carers, service users and staff the opportunity to doing something mindful, this was well received. Now that the mandala has bee filled in, it brightens up the waiting area and is complimented on by everyone.

Sensory walk - Previously our waiting room was very clinical and uninviting, there is no clear route to the reception. So our CAMHS team created a sensory walk, which leads our Children and Young people where they need to be whilst stimulating their sensory systems creating a sense of calm, fun and play in an otherwise anxiety provoking place.
