Referral to the Mainstream Schools Team.
Referral for children and young people attending/not attending a Hillingdon mainstream state school
Please note, parents/carers/professionals can get advice from the Speech and Language Therapy Service without needing to make a referral in the first instance.
It is recommended that school staff first get advice from their link speech and language therapist or call the advice line to help decide next steps
Sometimes when a referral is received, parents will be offered a parent only drop in appointment to discuss the concerns and to agree next steps.
Referrals for children and young people attending Hillingdon state schools will usually be seen in school.
Referrals for children and young people attending a private school or an out-of-borough school (and without an Education, Health and Care Plan), or being home educated will be seen in a community clinic or health centre.
Special schools in Hillingdon, along with Special Resource Provisions (SRPs), directly employ their own speech and language therapist and you can contact your child’s school to find out about their arrangements for speech and language therapy.
