We're delighted to announce Pamela Akorley has been appointed as CNWL’s Head of Camden Integrated Adult Services (IAS).
Pamela has been the Lead Nurse for Camden and Inner London for two years, bringing a wealth of nursing experience and understanding to this portfolio.
Graduating as an Adult Nurse in 2003, Pamela has over 19 years’ experience working in inpatient and community settings, together with over 10 years of managerial experience.
Much of this has been local to Camden and Inner London, including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (where she started her career) and Camden Primary Care Trust, where she followed her passion for sexual health, joining Mortimer Market Centre as a Charge Nurse.
Her time at Camden Primary Care Trust and later at CNWL, allowed her to hone her skills and build a strong foundation in nursing leadership and patient-centred care. Pamela’s contributions were recognised in 2023, when she was nominated for a prestigious Daisy Award.
Pamela said:
“It has been an immense privilege to serve as Lead Nurse in Camden and Inner London, a role of significance importance to me. As I step into this new role, I am deeply honoured to work among colleagues who are dedicated and committed to delivering quality patient care. We’re embarking on several exciting developments, and I am enthusiastic about contributing to our mission of sustaining quality care and fostering the wellbeing of the workforce”.
More recently, Pamela has stepped in as Interim Head of Camden IAS alongside Rebecca Dunkerley, as she prepares to leave CNWL.
We’re sad to be saying goodbye to Rebecca, and wish her the best of luck in the new role.
Sarah Hulme, Community Services Director for Inner London said:
“Rebecca has played an enormous role in the development of Camden and CNWL’s services over the years. Before coming into her current role in 2019, Rebecca managed Camden and Islington Wheelchair Services, and also worked in the Community Independence Service.
“Rebecca has led the way in digital transformation, notably securing an HSJ Award shortlist in 2022 for the use of DocAbode at Camden Rapid Access Service. She has fostered partnerships and innovations, and is leaving us in a strong position for Camden’s new Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.
"Rebecca has an eye for staff development, contributing to the career pathway for many of our staff, and organisationally for staff wellbeing, having been actively engaged in SCARF and the Women’s Staff Network.
“We will miss Rebecca enormously; her energy, creativity, openness to change, and her strength in partnerships.”
